Vincenzo Meriani, Violino

Vincenzo Merian graduated in violin under Maestro Vincenzo Corrado with highest honours and a special mention at the Domenico Cimarosa Music Conservatory of Avellino, where he also studied composition with Maestro Giacomo Vitale. At the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, he also obtained top honours with specialisation diplomas in Violin and Chamber Music under Maestros Sonig Tchakerian and Carlo Fabiano.

He further specialised in violin with Maestro Felice Cusano at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole; with Maestro Salvatore Accardo at the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he obtained the Diploma of Merit, and in Chamber Music with Maestros Bruno Giuranna, Hatto Beyerle, Bruno Canino, Andrea Nannoni, Christophe Giovaninetti and Antonello Farulli.

He is currently taking a Master’s degree in Music Performance under Maestro Klajdi Sahatci at the Italian Swiss Conservatoire and has also attended Masterclasses with Maestros Leonidas Kavakos, So Ock Kim, Yair Kless, Tanja Becker-Bender, Francesco De Angelis, Carlo Maria Parazzoli, Massimo Marin, Myriam Dal Don and Francesco Manara.

In 2015 he participated in the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Vanersborg (Sweden).

He was the winner of the Absolute First Prize at the XIII Mendelsshon Cup European Competition; First Prize at the Gesualdo da Venosa Musical Performance Competition and First Prize at the Jacopo Napoli Concorso Europeo di Esecuzione Musicale.

He has performed both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles for prestigious festivals and concert institutions including: Amici della Musica Firenze; Settimane Musicali al Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza; Mantova Chamber Music Festival; Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; Scuola di Musica di Fiesole; Mikrokosmos Ravenna; Associazione Napolinova; Musei Vaticani; Un viaggio oltre le note Festival; Circolo Artistico Politecnico di Napoli; Associazione Alessandro Scarlatti; Fondazione William Walton;  Estate Fiesolana and the Radio 3 Suite programme La Stanza della Musica. In addition, he has played in chamber ensembles with musicians such as Antonio Meneses, Franco Petracchi, Giovanni Sollima, Sonig Tchakerian, Andrea Massimo Grassi and Nikos Xanthoulis.

In the summer of 2014 he performed the Mozart Concerto K 207 solo with the Chamber Orchestra of Fondi and has also performed  op. 3 n. 10 by Vivaldi at the Teatro Eliseo in Rome as a soloist with the Italian Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Salvatore Accardo.

In 2013, he was First Violin Leader of the Italian Youth Orchestra, with whom he performed across Italy (Teatro Morlacchi in Perugia, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro Toniolo in Mestre and Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence) and abroad ( Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Grand Theater in Aix en Provence), working with conductors Alexander Lonquich, Pascal Rophè, Riccardo Muti, Danusha Waskiewicz and Wayne Marshall. He was part of the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester, which gave concerts under the direction of John Axelrod, and participated in the Spring Tour of the European Union Youth Orchestra in the United Arab Emirates under the direction of Vladimir Ashkenazy.

He was the winner of the Concorso per Violino di Fila and the Concertino dei Secondi at the Teatro Petruzzelli Foundation in Bari. He was judged eligible to audition for a place as violinist in the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Orchestra of San Carlo in Naples, Orchestra of the Opera in Rome and the Municipal Theatre in Bologna.

He has played with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the San Carlo Theatre Orchestra in Naples, Orchestra da Camera Italiana, Orchestra da Camera in Mantova and the Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti in Naples.

He passed the first level in the Composition at the Domenico Cimarosa Conservatory in Avellino taught by Maestro Giacomo Vitale and is a member of the Camerata Strumentale at the University of Salerno.
